The Grade II listed Assembly Hall was built in 1939, to the design of world-renowned architect Sir Herbert Baker. The round room is flooded by natural light during the day from the fifteen arched windows on the gallery level but can be darkened for presentations or fine dining. The polished, English oak panelling and heraldic emblems sit beneath a 30 foot glass dome surrounded by 32 gilded angels. A truly unique room.
The round shape of the Assembly Hall allows for a feeling of intimacy whether you are speaking to 664 people or dining with 372. In early 2007, following a £1.2 million renovation, this stunning room will be available for the first time for dinners, receptions, exhibitions and classroom style seating.
