Church House closed for refurbishment on 13th February; it's been three months and so much has happened already. Many people have asked me if I'm having a nice rest now that the property is out of action; they couldn't be more wrong, surprisingly, we're all very busy.

I've always been a believer in the age- old adage, 'A change is as good as a rest' and 2006 is certainly proving that to be true. Church House was closed with the Tearing Down the House Party and the next day, we began with a structured programme of evaluation, planning and promotion. The team is also expanding their horizons, by spending time with some of our partner companies, to gain a better understanding of how they work, with the aim of improving the processes at Church House.

The refurbishment work is now well underway, with many rooms stripped back to their stud work ready for replacement fixtures and fittings, the Robert Runcie Room has now doubled in size and the Assembly Hall floor is well on the way to being flattened.

Church House's re-opening will be a big deal. There are several opening events being planned, a grand opening ceremony and an ambitious schedule of show rounds. Personally, I can't wait to show off our new capabilities, and am looking forward to the first opportunity to plan a 'dining in the round experience' in the newly flattened Assembly Hall.
